Can I include Rohtang Pass also?

Rohtang does not fall on this route (we use Atal Tunnel). Adding requires extra day.

Is Chandratal always open?

No — open roughly late May to mid-October, depending on snow.

. Is the circuit safe for families?

Yes — the Chandigarh–Shimla–Kinnaur route is smooth and comfortable. Only Spiti sections are rugged but safe with an experienced driver.

Are medical facilities available?

Kaza has a hospital; basic medical points exist at Tabo & Losar.

Will I get mobile network?

Airtel/BSNL postpaid works best. Jio works patchy in Kaza. No network at Chandratal.

Day 1 :

Chandigarh → Shimla/Narkanda → Rampur (Overnight)

Morning pickup from Chandigarh hotel/airport/railway station.
Drive through Himalayan foothills, Kufri belt & apple orchards.
Scenic breaks at Theog, Narkanda.
Reach Rampur; rest & acclimatise.

Overnight: Rampur / Peo belt (comfortable hotel)

Day 2 :

Rampur → Kinnaur → Nako → Tabo (Overnight)

Drive along Sutlej & Spiti rivers.
Stop at Khab Sangam (confluence view).
Visit Nako Lake & village walk.
Evening arrival at Tabo.

Overnight: Tabo

Day 3 :

Tabo → Dhankar → Key Monastery → Kaza (Overnight)

Visit ancient Tabo Monastery (UNESCO-proposed).
Continue to Dhankar Monastery & viewpoint (optional trek).
Drive to Kaza; explore Key Monastery.
Evening free at Kaza market.

Overnight: Kaza

Day 4 :

Kaza → Langza – Hikkim – Komic Circuit → Kaza (Overnight)

Visit Langza (Buddha statue & fossil valley).
Stop at Hikkim (send a postcard from world’s highest post office).
Head to Komic (one of world’s highest motorable villages).
Return to Kaza for dinner & rest.

Overnight: Kaza

Day 5 :

Kaza → Chandratal Lake (Seasonal) → Chandratal Campsite (Overnight)

Drive via Kunzum Pass (stunning snow peaks).
Arrive at Chandratal Lake — 15–20 min walk to viewpoint.
Enjoy photography, stargazing & peaceful evening.

Overnight: Luxury Camps (Chandratal)
(If lake road closed: alternate stay in Kaza + Kibber/Pin Valley excursion.)

Day 6 :

Chandratal → Batal → Atal Tunnel → Manali → Chandigarh (Overnight in Manali optional)

Early morning drive through beautiful Lahaul.
Cross Atal Tunnel and reach Manali.
After lunch, continue drive to Chandigarh OR take optional Manali night stay.

Default Plan: Continue towards Chandigarh.
Flexible Option (recommended): Night stay in Manali to avoid fatigue.

Day 7 :

Chandigarh Drop (If Manali stay was chosen)

Morning checkout from Manali.
